About the Author
I trained first in applied physics (BSc) followed later by post-graduate studies in economic & industrial history (MPhil) business studies (DipBA) and later a PhD in metrology. Following a successful career in strategic research/technology and administration, I began to parallel academic authorship with writing popular science and biographical articles for various technical and innovation magazines. Apart from a fascination with inventors, inventions and new technologies I also enjoy writing 'off the beaten track' fiction, particularly when it leaves the reader slightly breathless. My first four novels were well received with my fifth title, "The Odessa Bride", at the time of writing getting near to completion. My publication record covers 11 Books (academic, fiction and humour) under various names and pseudonyms along with 68 research papers and umpteen popular science and innovation articles.

Written To Delight - A Fait Accompli

One would expect this series of 32 short stories to be digested in small chunks - title by title; but this book turns out to be so much of a feast of surprising and unexpected storylines that the reader can be forgiven for consuming the whole lot in one sitting! To say this compilation is well written, satisfying, exciting, and extraordinarily innovative is a serious understatement. As the back cover assures us, 'Only Fate Is Written challenges precepts, belief and expectation. These stories, parables and anecdotes are either counter-intuitive or logically inconsistent and, in that respect, thought provoking.' Not every reader will agree on all these assertions, but those unable to see the freshness and superb twists in the approach will be in the minority. I had to wait until the last title in the book to find my favorite - 'Unexpected Consequences' had me reading avidly until the conclusion. I jumped out of my chair cheering! Likewise, 'Jenny's Guilt' - I doubt anyone has ever considered this particular angle on the Whitechapel murders. Given all previous titles, this CB Barrie offering is a rare diversion in genre, but it is clear the author can put in as much punch and enjoyment in short stories as full length novels. More please!

My 8th grader had a 20 'total point' bump in her combined GPA/IOWA scores on the IOWA test between the first and second time that she took it, 2 months apart....by working in this work book an hour a day for 6 weeks. It got her into the #1 public (magnet) HS in Louisiana, and 80th in ranking for the entire country. Woot woot. She did it by herself too. I told her that I wouldn't be angry or disappointed if she didn't ultimately get in - but I'd sure feel like a failure as a Mom if she didn't TRY and at least improve her score the second time, because she REALLY wanted to go to this school and I couldn't do it for her....She knocked it out of the park. Thank you for this great resource!

I found it difficult identifying study materials that would allow her to work independently, without being too overwhelming.As soon as this guide was received, the entire family jumped in, asking her questions and testing her knowledge. I also can appreciate the answer key, giving descriptions of all items, not just the identified answer.

This book is well written with a lot of humor. The author has a great sense of humor however I could do without the "f" word and other profanity. I would have enjoyed this much better had it been less vulgar. Even the dedication page used the "f" word. I received this book free with the intention of writing an unbiased review. I do not think I would have purchased this book otherwise. Sorry Jen. You have a great sense of humor and the book is funny; you do not need a "shock effect" using profanity.

Pay the $65!

Full disclosure... I failed the 66 twice. A 73 and then a 74. I owe the 73 to STC and the 74 to Kaplan. Thanks guys...... I passed the 7 on my first try. Here's my advice... If you are a black and white person... You'll like STC the best. I'm assuming if you're taking the 66 you can actually sell which, if hoping, makes you deeper than a black and white person. If you're a black and white person go buy STC and come to the conclusion you should be an accountant. If you are a VISUAL person, this is the book for you. If you are someone who wants to know "why" instead of someone just saying "take my word for it" this is the book for you. I passed with an 86 after 45 hours of reading this book. I guess I should've have just drank my final day of studying since my score was so high! ;). In all seriousness... If you have struggled with the 66 before you'll prefer this book. Happy Passing!

These guys are amazing!!

These guys are amazing!!! When I failed to pass the 66 exam the first time, I contacted this company. The material is very easy to read, even has a bit of humor in it, and Robert knows this stuff forwards and backwards. When I went to take my 66 exam the second time, I passed it - even had time to spare. Unfortunately, I recently lost my 66 license due to my former employers incompetence in registering it, so now I need to take the Series 65 - since I have the 63 still. I will only go through this company as I know, from experience, it only takes one time with them.

Excellent Way to Prepare

This book does an outstanding job of explaining the types of essays that you will have to write. After each essay you will get an explanation on why the essay is so good, and it is a great way to get ideas of phrases to use on your exam.

I recommend you read through the first two essays and then try and do on your own the other essays. By following this approach you can see what you are doing wrong, and by the end you will have a great idea of what is expected from you in the test.

The key to the essays in the IELTS is practice, practice, practice - this is a great start!

I am a sucker for love stories and am always looking for authors I've never read before. This is the first book I've found from Mr. Gedall and I'm so glad I picked it up. While this story isn't very long, it really tells a well-rounded love story from beginning to end. I can't wait to read more from Mr. Gedall and would recommend this book.

Desde una óptica de género, la autora ofrece una crítica a aspectos que cobran vigencia desde lo cotidiano, como el machismo, la homofobia o la exclusión social. Su aguda mirada, así, ofrece una lectura sobre la violencia, aquella que es ejercida sobre sujetos victimizados, aspecto que puede leerse en perspectiva biopolítica. Una lectura recomendable, bien narrada, ágil y muy actual.

This is a marvelous book. If possible, Goth Librarian II is even better than the first Tales from a Goth Librarian. This is one of those books that once you pick up, you don't put it down until you are finished with it.
