A great collection of tales

I’ve always been a sucker for short stories so I was interested right away when I read about Lisbeth Foye’s short story collection intriguingly titled “Dawn French bought my lava lamp”.
There are seven stories in the anthology and between them they cover a lot of territory, from a very modern couple trying the raise cash on eBay to a Victorian murderer who wasn’t as clever as he thought he was.
I’m guessing That Lisbeth Foye is a lover of history, as her stories are filled with the tiny details that add authenticity to a tale. I was fascinated to learn, in passing, that one of Stonehenge’s large standing stones fell down on New Year’s Eve 1899 - no doubt making the average Druid feel nervous.
There are also some lovely turns of phrase in the writing. Sample: ‘ . . .a young lad who could jump in and out of the forklift truck with the back legs of a young kitten.’
I see from Kindle that Lisbeth Foye has also published three novels, which I think I’ll now be looking into as well. This is a lovely basket of tales which I recommend to anyone who like short stores as much as I do.

Seven Thought Provoking Short Stories

This is a most wonderful book of thought provoking short stories. Each is a little masterpiece and although quite different from each other, there is the same beautiful writing style and morals running through all of them.
I've read Lisbeth Foyes previous works and it was lovely to find a short story in the middle of Lana's life, a main character from two of her earlier books. Coming to the end of each short story, I said to myself 'this is my favourite' but I found that all were well plotted, well written and very interesting that it was difficult to have a favourite.
All in all, a fulfilling and satisfying book of excellent short stories.
