Contains a selection of stories:
1. The Last Train From Charlatoonga: After accumulating loot garnered during a lifetime of successful thievery and pretty larceny Bertram, a conman, in for a piece of flimsy 'work', breaks out of prison - risking imprisonment on a much graver charge. Why does he do that? And what does he 'gain' in turn?
2. A Lark For The Larkins: Through biting cold and berating taunts, a small lark sings and nudges a little boy back into health - and in doing so, itself comes close to death's door. But can the boy do the same for his feathered Samaritan?
3. A Peice Of Chirstmas Kace: A dyslexic little boy through his own actions of piety and righteousness discovers the true meaning of the spirit of Christmas...
4. Kingly Conundrum: The Adventures Of King Aegis: King Aegis' wit and wisdom is tested to the full by the scheming and shrewd ogress: "'Why is it often said ‘the sweet smell of victory’ but ‘the bitter taste of defeat’?”
“Because in the moment of success, when all the heat and dust of the battlefield has settled down and the lust and fire to grasp and wrench has been quelled, an epiphany usually steps in and the victorious know that the tide of luck could well have favored the other – the one who now lies vanquished and motionless, thence the impression that all victory is ephemeral like a sweet smell – now here, gone the very next moment! As for defeat, well, deserved or not, it is something that we are forever reminded of – all our lives. No matter what we achieve later, the memory of our defeat never leaves us. It’s like being served one bad, miasmic morsel at the end of a lavish and sumptuous banquet. The taste never leaves our palates. Hence the robust if somewhat fanciful, simile!”
5. The Golden Samovar: A wise and kind Tsar finally solves the age old dilemma plaguing his people and himself alike.
"And after seven days of intense and unceasing travails he had finally his first taste of real tea – it was colder than it was warm and it reeked of tears, loneliness, pride, hard-life, kindness, manual labor and above all of what it took to be happy with just what we possess than continually wail for what that we don’t have.
And it was Russian.
Unmistakably so!"
6. The Closing Gambit: In the fifty years of their friendship, Small had never allowed Buddy even once the chance of doing him a favor, help, or assistance and to Buddy, ever since he could remember, this fact had never ceased to rankle! And yet when suddenly one fateful day Small implores out of the blue for his help, Buddy surprisingly decides that he is hardly the man for the job. Why?
7. haughty hetty: The Fairventures Of Hetty Highlander: How did the world get its first fairy? Who was she? Where did she spring from? Was she even a 'fair' fairy?
All these and many more...

An amazing collection.....
By Mari. T
An absolute must-have-book. The stories are extremely well crafted and delve deep into the psychology and defining human behavior. Almost all stories are surprising in how they end and you almost start expecting the unexpected. If the ˜The last train...." amazes you with the story of a recklessly cold as-ice thief who suddenly feels kind about a boy whom he has never met and will perhaps never see again then "Lark for the Larkins" pitilessly moves you to tears! You feel the fear and agony of a parent and then, the grief and pain of a child.
And this, is just the beginning!
Every story is exceedingly well written and crafted with care and feeling. The style of the author and the flow of words itself leaves you bewitched. The two humorous jack-tales will have you in splits for sure. If the somewhat lengthy "kingly conundruma" forces you to look at every facet of life and ask yourself deep probing questions, then "the Closing Gambita" will make you question life itself and look at everything in it in new light and then leave you squirming in your seat.
Don't just buy this book! Read the free pages first and then see if you can resist buying!
I couldn't!
