Great Quick Read

This series is still going but it's a quick read and the lead characters are lovable. I like that this series is not a damsel in distress type thing. Julie can handle her own and Stephen comes into the picture and they grow together. There is a decent level of humor to be found and like any real life relationship, there are obstacles to overcome too.
There are times when the stories feel rushed to me, more than likely because of the shorter format for each volume. That may not be an issue for others, I admit that I am extremely detailed-oriented when I read so I tend to feel that way about most short stories. I'd also like to see more character development as the story arc continues.
Overall, its a quick, entertaining read that many will enjoy!

I love that Julie has a mind of her own and ...

The first book was definitely hot. Julie and Steven making out in his chauffeur driven car right in front of her home, that was mind blowing. I love that Julie has a mind of her own and Steven can actually cook wow! Meeting your future in-laws is a daunting experience, meeting them in a foreign country is doubly daunting especially when ex-girlfriends are around but she handled it well with the help of her intended sister-in-law. Most families can be a trip and Julie's were no different, there are some questionable characters in her family and Julie and Steven will have to be on their P"s and Q"s whenever they are around. The books are a must read and an addiction.

This book was wonderful. It showed love between two different people from different backgrounds. The love that Steven showed towards Julie was great. The other characters in the story Meg was a truly a great friend along with her cousin Tami. Melina was a hot mess. Don't want to give too much away. Ms. Fielding in this book you showed an erotic romance without going too erotic. It had just enough spice without being over the top. For buyers who wants to buy this book, you will not be disappointed. I hope there is an continuation. I feel it can more to their story and the other characters in the book. Can't wait.

Interview with Andrew Barger (June 22, 2015)
Q: As one of the ten best fantasy short stories for this period you picked one by Elizabeth Ellet, yet none by Edgar Allan Poe who did not hold her in high regard. Do you think Poe is rolling over in his grave?
A: Rolling? More like doing back flips against the lid of his coffin. I just like Ellet's witch story. It's a tight little thing and although Poe has more literary props in his little finger, Ellet seems to have beaten him in this genre for only this one fantasy story. She does admit that the general story idea, however, was based off fantasy legend.

Q: Fantasy has a broad meaning today. What types of stories did you exclude from consideration?
A: I have already edited the best horror, ghost, vampire, werewolf and science fiction short stories from 1800-1849, which can be found at AndrewBarger(.com). It is those genres--or sub-genres--that I excluded.

Q: Modern readers may be surprised that Charles Dickens wrote a fantasy short story.
A: "The Story of the Goblins Who Stole a Sexton" is thought by many to be a precursor to A Christmas Carol because the goblins meet a certain grouchy sexton on Christmas Eve. Dickens's movements through time are unique for this time period. It was also surprising that Dickens had a story that rose to the level of those found in 6a66le: The Best Horror Short Stories 1800-185.

Q: What is the oldest fantasy story in the collection?
A: "Rip Van Winkle". Washington Irving published it in 1819 and in it he gives the American Revolution special treatment. It is not a pure time travel story, but close to it.

Q: Was there any fantasy story you had never read that surprised you because of how good it was?
A: That's an easy one. Without question "Lilian of the Vale" by George Darley surprised me at how well it was written. Edgar Allan Poe even referenced it. Given its depth of character and storyline, to me it is the cornerstone of all modern fairy stories.

Q: No collection of fantasy stories from 1800-1850 would be complete without one by Mary Shelley.
A: You know, I am not a big fan of Mary Shelley stories and while I think Frankenstein was groundbreaking, it is not my favorite Gothic novel. Dracula far outshines it on every level and still puts chills sprinting down my spine. Bram Stoker, of course, had Frankenstein as a stepping stone, but it was a small one. I did include "Transformation" by Mary Shelley. It is her best fantasy short story, though her writing can be a little too dramatic. 

Q: Were any other fantasy stories based on legend?
A: Many of them started as legend and tradition seeds. They grew like kudzu from there. "The Doom of Soulis" by John MacKay Wilson, recounts a haunting legend of a wizard, much like Elizabeth Ellet did in retelling "The Witch Caprusche."

Q: Do any of the fantasy stories pull from the work of other authors in the collection?
A: "The Kelpie Rock," by Joseph Holt Ingraham, draws on the prior writings of Washington Irving in the Hudson River Valley while giving the world one of the best fantasy stories by an American during the first half of the nineteenth century.

Q: What is your favorite fantasy short story in the collection and why?
A: If I have to pick among my babies, I would have to say that "The Dwarf Nose" by Wilhelm Hauff is my favorite. There are better written stories in the collection from the perspective of big words, but this enchanting tale by Hauff excels in character generation like no other. In Germany it is a popular children's story to this day, but limiting it to a mere children's tale is selling the short story . . . well . . . short. The underlying meaning behind the story, which is set forth in the footnotes, is genius.

Four haunting, beautiful character studies

"Back Then" by Cly Boehs is a gripping, beautiful book, made up of four interlocked stories about members of a family in Oklahoma. By turns funny, sad, disturbing, and poignant, these stories are about the sometimes dysfunctional interactions that drive family dynamics. The characters are real, and their struggles, successes, and failings will resonate with every reader.

I would recommend this book without any reservations. Its stories will haunt you for a long time after you finish the last page. Do yourself a favor, and read this!

Michael Loring was born in Bristol, Connecticut, but has lived in a variety of places such as Florida and Tennessee. He likes to think of himself as an amateur Lycanthropologist, studying werewolves ever since he was eight years old when he first saw An American Werewolf In London. He spent most of his life switching between home school and public school, always focusing on his passion of writing no matter what. His interest in writing was sparked in the second grade when his teacher encouraged him to write short stories for the class, earning him more than one award at school assemblies for Creative Writing. He currently resides back in his birthplace of Connecticut with a house full of women who like to drive him up the wall until he finishes his chores. Captivating, Charming and Lovely!!

Isacc is a charming and intriguing love story.

The concept of "living" machine is one that I have always been intrigued by, and find myself drawn to in both literature and films. The idea that a machine could have emotions. That an animate object could essentially be allive.

Loring has taken the concept and mapped out the beautiful progression of what (in my humble opinion) makes us alive. Not the blood in our bodies feeding our brain with oxygen or flooding our organs with nutrients, but that which us unexpalinable. The emotions that drive our needs and desires.

Do yourself a favor and get this story. It is a beautiful, heart-wrenching tale that shows love on many levels and addresses the question, "What really makes us whole?" Absolutely brilliant!!

In Love Again!

I have an absolute love for this author. Short story or not, I leap at the chance to buy anything new that he may put out. This short story was no different. I found out that it was released and within the week I had it purchased and downloaded on my kindle.

Isaac is a sweet short story that is descriptive and believable. I loved every word, every detail and I couldn't have asked for more. Okay, so I lied. It could have been longer. Even though it was a short story, I still HIGHLY enjoyed it and await anything else that this author has to offer.

If you like short reads and a way to escape, snag this cheap and wonderfully written tale and dive in. I promise you will find a new favorite author to stalk just as I have.

Turing love test

Isaac is a brilliantly written short story that examines the depths of emotion that can exist between to androids, even when the emotions they feel are programmed responses.

Despite the short length of the story, the characters are well developed, the story strong, and the ending exceptional.

Whether you're a fan of love stories or a scifi fan of the works of Turing, you'll enjoy this story. I highly recommend it.

This speed reading guide serves up tips and tricks to zip through reading while staying focused. Speed reading doesn't help if you don't remember anything!

The author does a nice job keeping the chapters short and has lots of practical pointers you can use to speed up your reading. I learned from reading this guide and you will to! Nicely Done!

Speed Reading is Great!

Speed reading has been a difficulty of mine and I am so happy I got this book to help me! The author has done a wonderful job with writing out all of the steps on how to speed read and how to skim read. After reading this book I now feel as if I can pick up a book and start reading it quickly and skim through the parts I don't need to fully read. This is a great book and I recommend it to everyone!

About the Author
Bernice Erehart was born and raised on the Jersey Shore. She is the middle child of Howard and Vincenza, with two older sisters and an older brother, as well as three younger sisters. Because of them she is now aunt to six nephews and five nieces, and great aunt to five great nephews and five great nieces. Bernice has been writing short stories for as long as she can remember, and feels there are many more to come. She still lives at the Jersey Shore with her furry children Boo, Chipee and Lucy. Bernice Erehart's first novel Out of Time was published early 2014 .

Good story telling, writing needs work.

This is a case of a well told story poorly written. The author has a lot of the elements of a good story, suspense, drama, humor and intrigue but there are many grammatical and spelling errors, as well as a few poorly constructed sentences. If you can see past those things it is worth reading.

Clever story

This is a very short story- but very well written and clever.

Although it is only 11 pages long, this story really packs a punch. A woman begins to dig a very large hole in her backyard. At first we are led to believe that she is unhappy with the work that the men about to install a pool are doing- but we soon realize that something much more significant is going on. I won't spoil the surprise by telling you any more than this- other than to say that you won't be dissapointed.

Whenever I read a book from an author that is unknown to me, I always ask myself "Would I read something else that this author has written?" In this case, the answer is yes-absolutely. This was an enjoyable story, and I look forward to reading more of this author.

A PIT OF NOTHING BELIEVABLE

Okay, so Riley (a woman, even though the author used "he" for her in one place), is disgusted with the crew that was supposed to build a swimming pool in her back yard. The author of two bestsellers and a third one on the way, thus kind of rich, apparently loses her senses, buys shovels and other stuff, and starts digging up the pool herself--in just an afternoon. Then -- breaks local ordinances and laws to get some kind of revenge on -- I don't know who or what!

THE HOLE is a perfect title for what truth this story explores. Another word could be THE PIT. Kind of empty.
