I enjoyed the gender politics of Shruthi Rao’s offering

This collection of stories is a mixed bag, but there are certainly some which stand out. I enjoyed the gender politics of Shruthi Rao’s offering, as well as the reflective tone of Fehmida Zakeer’s story. And Paying The Piper by Vrinda Baliga, the first story, was excellent-and by itself, worth the price of purchase. It is one of the most inventive and clever stories I have read in a long time. I look forward to reading more from these three authors.

A wonderful short story collection which has flavors of the different shades of human life and emotions, Distant Echos is a great read. The reluctance of an elderly lady to leave her home of thirty years, the infatuation of a woman which makes her follow her crush to a foreign land, a computer game playing truant with life... these are just some of the situations brought live in this collection.

A great collection of stories of various hues.The story 'Fuddy Duddies' by Shruthi Rao was a great read and had shades of my favourite author Roald Dahl. Vrinda Baliga's story was wonderful bringing out intensely, behind-the-scene workings of a technology/software company.Other stories had their own flavour thus made going through this collection a complete reading experience.
