A bit more work and it'd be really good!

This was a very sweet and interesting read. I just wish it were a bit longer and maybe didn't have the paranormal element.
It started off really funny and intriguing. Heathers gets lost due to her friends lack of directions. Her idea of telling Heather how to get to the place where the reenactment was taking place was turn at this oak tree. You'll know the one.
She gets to the place. Has some fun meets this sweet and chivalrous Prince Charming type, then ends up almost getting kidnapped by these creatures.
That's when the story lost some interest. The idea for the creatures was interesting but it was too rushed and needed a bit more work. The storyline could have worked better with them if the author developed it a bit more.
I really liked Heather and Roland. The romance between them was sweet. The feelings a bit rushed and I wish the book were longer so they could draw it out some more between them and feel more real.
The story has a lot of potential and the creatures were definitely new for me. So overall not a bad read just needs a little something more.

A really quick fun read (47 pages

A really quick fun read (47 pages?). Definitely a great one to pull out while one the beach or by the pool.
I loved Heather. It was great that even though the festival wasn’t really her thing… she let her friend talk her into trying it out to get out of her post-relationship rut. I also loved how easygoing she was. Knowing her friend regularly gave her “vague directions”, she drove on her own (in full costume) out into the middle of some country highway field. Even getting lost… she kept her cool. She was just a really confident woman. It made her easy to like. Her confidence didn’t guarantee she would always be smart in her actions though (she had a couple of really dumb moments)… which was good since it gave reason for Roland to step in to be her knight in shining armor.
The paranormal twist at the end came a little out of left field. But, I always knew there was something more to renaissance/medieval re-enactment type festivals than the average person knew about!

This book really has a lot of potential

This book was interesting to say the least. As I started to read it I really thought I was going to love it. The beginning of the book we have Heather looking for an event but gets lost. She runs into a man with strange looking eyes. She quickly jumps back in her car and eventually finds the event she is looking for. Her friend, Steph, is notorious for giving bad directions.
Heather is dressed as a princess from another time period for this party and believes she has found her prince charming in Roland. But then there is an attempted kidnapping and Roland and Heather are on the run. This is where the book takes a completely different turn.
I really wish the author would’ve kept going with the way the story started out. It just wasn’t quite as interesting toward the end.
This is the first time I have ever given 3*** on a book and it really hurt me to do so, but I wanted to be honest. I really do think the book has a lot of potential.
